Intended Users

Industrial and professional users only

SECTION 1

1. Intended Use

GREENLOOP RUST CONVERTER N8 is a ready-to-use, water-based acidic rust converter for steel and other ferrous-metal surfaces. It chemically converts and stabilises rust to prepare the surface before painting, coating or sealing.

SECTION 2

2. Surface Preparation

  1. Remove loose rust, flaking paint, dirt, dust, grease and oil.
  1. The product must contact the rusted metal surface directly — do not apply over contamination.
  1. Remove standing water from the surface before application.
  1. Test on a small area before full-scale application.

SECTION 3

3. Application

Apply by brush, roller, controlled low-pressure spray or immersion.

  1. Apply the undiluted product evenly to the prepared surface.
  1. Ensure complete and uniform wetting of the rusted area.
  1. Work the product into rough, pitted and irregular areas.
  1. Avoid excessive pooling on the surface.
  1. Avoid unnecessary mist formation during spray application.

SECTION 4

4. Conversion Reaction

Allow the chemical conversion reaction to proceed fully before inspecting or overcoating. Reaction time depends on:

  • Rust thickness and condition
  • Ambient temperature and humidity
  • Surface geometry and porosity
  • Application method and quantity applied

If conversion is incomplete after the initial application, apply an additional controlled coat if required.

SECTION 5

5. Drying and Overcoating

  • Allow the treated surface to dry completely before further treatment or coating.
  • Do not overcoat while the surface remains wet or tacky.
  • Follow the coating manufacturer's surface-preparation and overcoating requirements.
  • Verify compatibility between the converted surface and the selected coating system before full-scale application.

SECTION 6

6. Coverage

Indicative coverage: approximately 6–10 m²/L.

Actual consumption depends on rust condition, surface roughness and porosity, component geometry and application method. Coverage values are indicative only.

SECTION 7

7. Surface Compatibility

Suitable Surfaces

  • Mild steel
  • Carbon steel
  • Cast iron
  • Wrought iron
  • Suitable ferrous alloys

Compatibility Testing Required

  • Galvanised steel
  • Zinc-coated surfaces
  • Painted or coated surfaces
  • Sensitive or decorative surfaces

Not Intended For

  • Aluminium, copper, brass, bronze
  • Other non-ferrous metals

SECTION 8

8. Safety, Storage and Documentation

  • Wear appropriate PPE. Avoid eye contact and unnecessary mist inhalation.
  • Store between +5°C and +25°C, protected from frost, heat, direct sunlight and contamination.
  • Store in the original container, tightly closed and upright.
  • For complete safety, handling, first-aid and disposal information, refer to the current Safety Data Sheet (SDS).
  • For complete technical parameters, refer to the current Technical Data Sheet (TDS).
